F-4G AdvancedWildWeasel

“Wild Weasel” is a name given to United States Air Force aircraft carrying out SEAD missions (Suppression of Enemy Air Defences) F4′s began carrying out this role in the late 1970s’

F-5A Freedom Fighter

First flown in 1959 the F-5A Freedom Fighter is a light supersonic aircraft. The F-5 began life as a privately funded fighter program by Northrop. The first overseas order for F-5′s came from the Royal Norwegian Air Force. in 1965 the USAF started combat evalutation of the fighter.

EF-111A RAVEN

The Raven was an electronic warfare aircraft built to replace the Douglas EB-66. It was often called by it’s nickname “Spark-Vark”

F-15C Eagle

The F-15C is an Air superiority tactical fighter designed and built by McDonnell Douglas. The first variant flew in 1972

F-5E Tiger II

The F-5E was the second generation of the F-5 fighter aircraft. Primarily the aircraft was used by America’s cold war allies with only a small number used by the USA.

F-117 NIGHTHAWK

The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk was a stealth ground attack aircraft used by the United States Air Force. The Nighthawk’s first flight was in 1981. In 2008 it was officially retired by the USAF.

F-15E StrikeEagle

The Strike Eagle is a variant of the F-15 Eagle. Designed as an all-weather strike fighter for long range ground attack.

A-6A Intruder

The A-6 Intruder was a twin jet mid wing attack aircraft built by Grumman Aerospace that saw service between 1963 and 1997. Designed as a replacement for the piston engined A-1 Skyraider.

Mig-21 Fishbed

First flow in 1955 the Legendary MiG 21 is a record breaking aircraft holding the record for the most produced combat aircraft. Designed as an air superiority aircraft this supersonic jet fighter is capable of Mach 2.05

F-15 Active

The F-15 Active was a variant of the McDonnell Douglas F-15 S/MTD. The Active or “Advanced Control Technology for Integrated Vehicles) was a technology testbed aircraft used by NASA and the USAF to test a number of advanced control technologies including thrust vectoring.

EA-6B Prowler

The EA-68 is variant of the A-6 Intruder aircraft designed for electronic warfare.

Mig-25 Foxbat

HAWX features an incorrect model for the MiG 25. The game actually depicts the 25′s replacement the MiG 31

FA-18C Hornet

The “C” is a single seat variant of the Hornet featuring night attack capabilities.

A-7B Corsair II

The A-7 Corsair was a carrier based subsonic light attack aircraft designed to replace the A-4 Skyhawk. The Corsair first saw combat in Vietnam and was one of the first aircraft to feature HUD. The USA stopped flying the Corsair in 1991.

Mig-29 Fulcrum

The MiG-29 Is a fourth generation air superiority jet fighter designed in the Soviet Union in the 1970s by Mikoyan. It entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1983. It’s NATO reporting name is Fulcrum, which unlike many other NATO names was favoured by Soviet pilots – perhaps because unlike many other NATO reporting names it wasn’t derogatory.

The MiG-29 is widely used worldwide and is capable of Mach 2.25

FA-18 RC

F-14A Tomcat

The F-14 Tomcat is a supersonic, twin seat, twin engine, variable sweep wing aircraft first flown in 1970. First entering service with the US Navy in 1974. Notably it was also exported to the Imperial Iranian Air Force in 1976 and still serves with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (Despite having no logistical or development support from the Tomcat’s manufacturers.)

The F-14A is the all weather interceptor/fighter variant (US Navy)

The F-14B is an improved version of the F-14 featuring improved powerplants, radar range and ceiling.

The F-14 was the final variant of the F-14 featuring (amongst other improvements) digital avionics systems.

The MiG-33 designation as first used at the 1994 Farnborough Airshow (UK) as the marketing name for an improved multirole version of the MiG-29 known as the “SuperFulcrum”

The Super Hornet is a carrier based strike fighter derivative of the F/A-18C introduced in 1999.

F-14B Bombcat

Su-25 Frogfoot

The Sukhoi SU-25 is a single seat, twin engine, close air support jet aircraft. The Russian nickname for the SU-25 is “Grach” (“Rook”)

The Frogfoot has seen combat in various wars.

AV-8B Harrier II

The AV-8B Harrier ll is a ground attack/multirole second generation vertical/short takeoff and landing aircraft (V/STOL). The Harrier excells in operations launched from small aircraft carriers.

The British Harrier versions of the AV-8B are designated as GR7/GR9 and are used by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy. The Harrier is often refereed to as the “Harrier Jump Jet”

F-14D SuperTomcat

Su-32 FN

The Sukhoi SU-32 is the export version of the Sukhoi SU-34, an advanced two seat fighter bomber aircraft.

MIRAGE F1

The Mirage F1 is a single seat air superiority fighter aircraft produced by Dassault Aviation. Powered by a single Snecma Atar turbojet the Mirage F1 has a maximum speed of Mach 2.3

YF-17 Cobra

The YF-17 was a prototype lightweight fighter aircraft designed by Northrop for a technology evaluation program. Northrop lost the evaluation to the F1-16. “Cobra” is an unofficial nickname and not a designation.

Su-34 Fullback

The Sukhoi SU-34 is an advanced two seat fighter bomber aircraft.

MIRAGE IV P

The Dassault Mirage IV was developed in part as a supersonic nuclear bomber. The Mirage IVP (Penetration) was a response to criticisms that the IV was vulnerable to air defences.

F-20 Tigershark

The Tigershark was a privately funded light fighter designed by Northrop. It was an evolution of the F-5E Tiger ll.

Su-27 Flanker

The Sukhoi SU-27 Flanker is an air superiority fighter. It was designed as a competitor to the large US fourth generation fighters.

MIRAGE III

The Mirage lll is a delta wing supersonic fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault Aviation. Still in use today the Mirage lll proved to be popular with some of the worlds smaller air forces.

YF-23 Black Widow II

The YF-23 was a prototype fighter aircraft designed by Northrop/McDonnel Douglas for entry into the Advanced Tactical Fighter Competition. Although the YF-23 lost out to Lockheed’s YF-22 there is a possibility that it may be used as a frame for the USAF’s interim bomber requirement.

Su-35 SuperFlanker

The Sukhoi SU-35 is a heavy air superiority fighter designed by Sukhoi. The SU-35 is in service in small numbers by the Russian Air Force.

MIRAGE 5

The Mirage 5 is a supersonic attack aircraft designed by Dassault Aviation in the 1960′s. It was a derivative of the MIrage lll.

X-29

The X-29 was an experimental aircraft designed by Grumman to explore a number of new technologies including forward swept wings and canards.

Su-37 Terminator

The Sukhoi SU-37 is a protoype aircraft built to test thrust vectoring.

MIRAGE 2000 C

The Mirage 2000 C is a Interceptor variant of the Mirage 2000 multirole aircraft. The first Mirage 2000 C flew in 1982 and entered service in 1983.

A-10A Thunderbolt II

The A-10 is a single seat, twin engine jet aircraft designed by Fairchild-Republic for the United States Airforce as a close air support aircraft. The Aircrafts official name comes from the World War ll P-47 Thunderbolt fighter but is also known as the “Warthog” or “Hog”.

Su-47 Berkut

The Sukhoi SU-47 is an experimental supersonic jet fighter featuring forward swept wings, canards and thrust vectoring.

MIRAGE 2000-5

The Mirage 2000-5 was built as a replacement to the Mirage 2000.

F-16 FIGHTING FALCON

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a lightweight multirole jet fighter. The F-16 features many innovations including a bubble canopy, side mounted control stick and a reclined seat.

F-2

The F-2 is a fighter aircraft manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Lockheed Martin based from the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

RAFALE C

The Rafale C is a single seat multirole fighter designed for the French Air Force by Dassault Aviation. At one point in in the late 1970′s Dassualt may have cooperated in the Eurofighter Typhoon program but French political opinion prevented this and so the very capable Rafale and distinctive was developed.

YF-12A

The Lockheed YF-12A was a prototype high altitude interceptor aircraft evaluated by the United States Air Force as a development of the A-12. The project was cancelled in 1965 in part to budget cuts but also amidst criticism that an interceptor with such speed and altitude was negated by the fact that no potential enemy of the USA possessed a bomber of equal speed or altitude.

JAGUAR

The SEPECAT (Société Européenne de Production de l’Avion d’École de Combat et d’Appui Tactique – the European company for the production of a combat trainer and tactical support aircraft) Jaguar was a Anglo-French ground attack jet built and designed by the British Aircraft Corporation and Breguet Aviation.

F-22 RAPTOR

The F22 is a fifth generation stealth air superiority jet fighter with multirole capabilities. The United States Air Force considers the F22 a critical part of the US strike force and claims the F22 cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter.

Saab-39 Gripen

The Saab JAS 39 Gripen (Griffin) is a fourth generation multirole fighter aircraft designed and manufactured by Saab. Because of Sweden’s fears of a Soviet invasion in the Cold War the Gripen is designed to be maintained in extreme and unorthodox conditions and should be able to land on public roads which would have served as make-shift airstrips in an invasion. As such it’s reported that the Gripen can re-fuel and re-arm in ten minutes.

F-35 LIGHTNING II

The F-35 is a fifth generation stealth capable multirole fighter. The F-35 has three models; a coventional takeoff and landing model, a short takeoff and vertical landing model and a carrier based variant.

Eurofighter Typhoon

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a canard-delta wing multirole jet fighter aircraft designed and built by a consortium of partner companies. The Typhoon has entered service in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and Austria.

FB-22 STRIKE RAPTOR

The FB-22 (Often called the Strike Raptor) is a proposed USAF bomber stealth bomber aircraft derived from the F-22 Raptor.

A-12 Avenger_II

The A-12 Avenger ll was a prototype carrier based stealth bomber replacement for the A-6 Intruder. The aircraft is often called the “Flying Dorito” or “Flying Nacho” by HAWX players.

F-18 HARV

The F-18 HARV (High Alpha Research Vehicle) was a modified F/A-18 used by NASA as an experimental testbed to investigate controlled flight at high angles of attack using thrust vectoring.

Saab-35 Draken

Draken (Kite or Dragon in English) was a supersonic fighter jet designed and manufactured by Saab as a replacement to the Saab J 29 Tunnan. It’s dramatic double-delta configuration make it one of the most visually recognisable jet fighters of the modern world.

    I could be wrong but the XA-20 looks an awful lot like one of the three “piloted” aircraft from the movie “Stealth” starring Jamie Foxx and Jessica Biel.
